Cthulhu is a character borrowed form H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The
Call of Cthulhu. WizKids have crafted a 16 inch Cthulhu with great care.
It is the most detailed miniature in HorrorClix. Cthulhu has it all-
open sores, extra tentacles and other details needed to inspire terror
and awe. The credit of creating such a detailed miniature for HorrorClix
goes to sculptor Brain Dugas. Dugas tried to make Cthulhu as authentic
as possible. In his effort to do so he used real pieces of sea creatures
to create Cthulhu. Of course this miniature towers over the rest. Even
evil deities have to have stature after all.
The Great Cthulhu miniature is to be retailed in limited numbers at a
price befitting its stature.
As with other collectible miniatures game HorrorClix also comes in a
starter set and subsequent booster sets. The HorrorClix starter set
contains all the ingredients needed for the enactment of a gory horror
story. Six monsters, twelve innocent victims, two moody objects, dice
and the rule book- equipped with all these players can start on their
horror trail. The booster packs bring you characters like the Headless
Horseman and Jack the Ripper. The pack also contains plot twist cards
and victim tokens. There are a total of 96 horror miniatures to collect
from HorrorClix. Booster packs of HorrorClix also bring prize support
for in-store HorrorClix events held on a weekly basis.
WizKids has announced special events featuring HorrorClix at game
conventions like GenCon, Dragon Con and Origins.
Review of HorrorClix
HorrorClix promises tons of wicked, creepy fun to its players. The
characters in HorrorClix border on gruesome and the scenarios can be
pretty chilly. But then, what is a game if it does not allow you to
unleash your imagination a little. All the morbidity depicted in
HorrorClix leads to good wholesome fun for the players who will
definitely find the game absorbing. Those fond of collecting miniatures
will also find the HorrorClix minis worthy of collecting, especially the
Great Cthulhu which is a collector’s item.
Unlike war strategy games that involve hack and slash combat, HorrorClix
involves story based play. A game of HorrorClix can give players a feel
of enacting their own horror story.
If monster armies and gore filled romps interest you then HorrorClix
will fulfill all your ghoulish expectations.
