Players can become winners by being clever while trading, cunning while
planning development and by establishing productive sea lanes. Players
of Seafarers of Catan
acquire their resources through card play and dice rolls.
Both strategy and luck are needed in generous doses for the winner of a
Seafarers of Catan game. Innovative features like ‘gold river’,
unexplored terrain and the like add a lot of interest to a game of
Seafarers of Catan.
A game of Seafarers of Catan brings players 14 edge pieces, 24 hexagons,
8 victory point chits, 10 numbered chits, 12 harbor tokens, 60 wooden
ships in 4 colors (15 of each) and one pirate ship (black).
Of the 24 hexes 12 are for water, 2 for gold fields, 3 for deserts, 1
for farmland, 1 for forest, 1 for pasture, 2 for mountains and 2 for
hills.
The wooden ships come in four different colors-white, orange, blue and
red. There is one special black pirate ship.
There are components available for the Seafarers of Catan game that
makes it possible for the game play to accommodate more players and more
scenarios. The only limiting factor is that the compatibility does not
extend across countries. The German and American editions are stand
alone games not compatible with each other.
Review Of
The Seafarers of Catan
Seafarers of Catan is a thoroughly absorbing game that will be a delight
to any Settlers of Catan enthusiast. Players not familiar with the
Settlers of Catan series will also find Seafarers of Catan very
interesting. The rules regarding game play are quite intricate and may
require some time to comprehend. However, young players catch on very
fast and after the initial few moves the game moves along at an even
speed. The Archipelago of Catan develops very fast once the players
catch on to the rules! |
