Star War Miniature

Star Wars Miniatures is a collectible miniatures game with a science fiction theme. In fact Star Wars Miniatures has the most popular contemporary science fiction theme. As with other collectibles’ games Star Wars Miniatures also comes with a starter pack and subsequent booster packs.
 

The starter pack has a set of ten miniatures of which two are exclusive. Two of the miniatures are part of every set. These are Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The other eight miniatures are random inserts.

The miniatures in Star Wars Miniatures are classified as Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Very Rare. The Star Wars Miniatures starter pack also contains the miniatures’ stat cards, a double sided map, terrain tiles and a 20 sided die. The miniatures are based on characters from the famous Star Wars Universe. The stat cards contain attributes of characters like hit points, defense, attack, damage and force powers.

On each turn a player can either move or fight. The double sided map has a theme on one side. The other side is blank and is used to fit terrain tiles for play. Terrain features like walls, doors and the like either help or hinder movement.

Star wars enthusiasts may find Star Wars Miniatures low on detail. But, players give it high marks for fun. The game play is simple. Movement and combat is decided by a roll of dice. The other actions include seeking cover, placing leaders in commanding positions, mass fire and use of special abilities of exclusive miniatures.

In the Star Wars Miniatures series nine different factions have been released by the publishers. The factions are Rebel, Imperial, Republic, Separatist, New Republic, Yuuzhan Vong, Old Republic, Sith and Fringe. Each faction has its own set of miniatures for building a squad. Fringe is an exception. The miniatures of Fringe can be used in any squad. Each faction is based on a different theme. The popularity of the faction depends on players’ liking for the related theme.

Players make up a squad with a chosen point total like 100 or 200. Star Wars Miniatures has several rules and classifications. Play is classified on the basis of faction, era, light side, dark side, and even no faction or combination faction squad. The play maps used represent different locations from the Star Wars Universe. Most maps are suitable for a 100 point game. A few maps are marked for a 200 point game.

Becoming familiar with Star Wars Miniatures game terminology will b useful. The time taken for all players to activate their miniatures is a Round. The time taken for all players to activate two miniatures is a Phase and the activation time for a single miniature is a Turn.

The miniatures in Star Wars Miniatures are of a very good quality. This makes Star Wars Miniatures highly sought after as collectibles. Inclusion of two rare characters in the starter pack and at least one in the booster packs makes collecting the miniatures an interesting pastime.

The rules for game play are pretty simple and so players slip easily into the game. Star Wars Miniatures is easy to assemble and play. Star Wars enthusiasts find Star Wars Miniatures a delight to play as it involves several well known characters.

The collectible nature of the game puts off some people as continuous purchases are needed to get rare characters. However, most Star Wars Miniatures find the game well worth the expense. Some online portals also give enthusiasts the chance of playing a virtual Star Wars Miniatures game.
